Truck with an attached trailer causes a deadly accident

The aftermath of any accident can be devastating for those involved. The aftermath of a truck accident can be even more intense. Truck accidents tend to cause more damage than car accidents in a lot of cases. When dealing with a flatbed trucks or semi-trucks, car drivers need to stay aware of their surroundings while on the roads. Even when drivers are extremely attentive to the different types of trucks that they share the road with, accidents still happen because sometimes accidents are just unavoidable and can lead to serious injuries.

Pennsylvania changes the face of medical malpractice

Doctors are required to carry medical malpractice insurance. This type of insurance is used to financially protect the doctor in the event that there is a medical malpractice claim instituted against them. Carrying this type of insurance ensures that the doctor will not have to pay out of pocket if sued by a patient. Medical malpractice is a claim instigated by a patient against a health care professional for negligent conduct in rendering medical services that led to patient injury. This is a negligence suit that has to be proved by the patient bringing the claim that the doctor or medical staff providing care did not uphold their duties and acted with negligence.

How is fault determined in car accidents?

For most of us, driving is a necessary part of life. We need to drive to get to work, to pick up our kids after school, to go on family vacations and get to other important destinations such as work or the store.. As such, driving is a necessary evil, meaning that there are inherent risks with driving. Driving, as we all learned in driver's education classes, is a privileged activity that can be dangerous and even deadly in some cases. Drivers in Pennsylvania understand that the likelihood that an individual will be involved in a car accident during your driving lifetime is a very real possibility. There are various degrees of accidents that range from the serious in nature to the not so serious, such as a fender bender. Most times it is easier to find fault in the more serious car crashes, especially when it was clearly caused by a negligent driver.

Understanding the dangers of truck accidents

Because of the serious harm and suffering truck accidents can cause, truck accidents are a serious concern both on the roadways and for victims. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that 3,921 victims were killed and another 104,000 victims were injured in truck accidents in 2012. Overall, in 2012, 333,000 large trucks were involved in traffic crashes.

Doctors and defensive medicine fight against malpractice

Medical malpractice claims arise out of medical mistakes or misconduct by a health care professional that results in injury to the patient. It is a negligence claim whereby the individual making the claim has to prove a negligence case. This requires that the claimant must show that there was a duty owed, breach of that duty, and that the breach proximately caused the injury that was ultimately suffered. Damages are the last piece of the negligence pie and this is can be shown in terms of lost wages, additional medical expenses and/or pain and suffering. Oftentimes, medical malpractice cases can take a long time to resolve.
