Summer weather doesn’t always mean safer roads in Pennsylvania

Although summer generally makes for safer road and driving conditions, motorists must not become complacent. Plenty of car accidents happen during the summer months in Pennsylvania. Rain, holiday celebrations, greater numbers of motorcycles, and more weekend traffic congestion are all factors that contribute to summertime accidents. For this reason, it is important for drivers to be aware of hazards on the state’s roads all year long.

A recent, local crash illustrates the dangers that motorists face on the state’s roads even in the height of summer. The accident occurred in Schuylkill Haven when a Buick attempted to turn into the parking lot of a local farmers market. In executing the maneuver, the driver traveled into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. The pickup did not have time to stop, and it slammed into the side of the Buick.

The impact of the crash forced the pickup to collide with a Ford in the parking lot. Two people in the Buick and two people in the Ford were injured and transported to the hospital. The driver of the pickup suffered minor scrapes and declined medical treatment. Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt, which certainly served to minimize the injuries in the three-vehicle crash.

Notably, the car accident happened just before noon on a slightly-overcast Sunday morning. Traffic conditions were normal, and yet the accident occurred. A State Trooper on the scene indicated that it would be difficult to determine fault in the accident. Anyone who has been injured in an accident where fault is difficult to determine should contact an experienced personal injury attorney.
