What can you do if you suffer a brain injury in a car accident?

Celebrating Independence Day typically means an increase in the number of car accidents on the roads in Pennsylvania and elsewhere throughout the country, including many drunk driving accidents.

One of the more common injuries during a motor vehicle accident is a head injury. The brain is the most important part of the human body. Although the brain is protected by a very strong and durable shell, the skull, it is still vulnerable to injury or damage when an impact is made between the head and another object.

Serious brain injuries, called traumatic brain injuries, or TBIs, could lead to serious, catastrophic or deadly results. Even a hit to the head that does not appear to be serious could lead to internal bleeding, swelling of the brain or blood clots, all of which could lead to dire consequences for the victim, including but not limited to: headaches, dizziness, memory loss, nausea and, in more serious instances, loss of motor skills, potentially a loss of consciousness and, in extreme cases, death.

A drunk driver who causes an accident may be liable for damages and injuries related to the accident. This could include not only pain and suffering, but compensation for all medical bills and rehabilitation costs, and even lost wages. If you have been involved in a drunk driving accident in Pennsylvania, it may be in your best interest to get more information about the unique details of your case and see whether you could be entitled to compensation for your injuries.
