Chain reaction crash in Pennsylvania causes injuries
In the aftermath of any car crash, the people involved may have a number of unanswered questions. Often, answers to these questions are not readily available and may never be answered, which makes being in a car accident even harder to endure. This is true of all serious vehicular accidents but even more so in the case of drunk driving accidents.
A drunk driving accident occurred in Chester, Pennsylvania, and left five people with injuries ranging from minor to severe. According to police reports, a driver, who is now facing DUI charges, was driving on the shoulder of the roadway when he crashed into a parked police car. The police officer was not in the car at the time of the accident because he was assisting another vehicle on the side of the roadway that had run out of gas. The three passengers in the car that had run out of gas suffered minor injuries, while the alleged drunk driver and his passenger were both seriously injured. The police officer was not hurt.
A drunk driving accident can have many legal ramifications. When someone is involved in an accident with a drunk driver, depending on the nature and gravity of the accident, the drunk driver will face charges and be punished in criminal court. Additionally, victims of drunk driving accidents and their families can file claims in civil court seeking damages for the accident. A court may award compensatory damages for things such as medical bills and lost wages.
