Car crash on a snowy roadway leaves one dead and one injured

There are a number of factors that can contribute to car accidents. Negligent drivers, including distracted drivers, are one of the primary causes of car crashes. Along with these factors, climate conditions also play a significant role in creating hazardous driving conditions.

A 51-year-old woman from Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania was killed in a car crash in Conewago Township on Christmas Eve. The woman was driving her 2003 Toyota Spider southbound on Route 743 in snowy weather conditions and lost control of her car. She struck a 2005 Nissan Armada, driven by a 28-year-old Conewago Township man who was traveling northbound. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts the time of the accident.

Although the man in this particular accident was not seriously injured, the accident was not his fault and he could go through the court system to seek payment for his vehicle and any medical expenses that he incurred. The courts do take liability in a car crash seriously and are looking to make victims of an automobile accident whole where appropriate.

Inclement weather plays a larger role in car crashes than people may think. Weather conditions affect road conditions which in turn affect how people drive. When the weather is not favorable, drivers need to pay even more attention to what is going on around them. Especially during the winter months, when snow is more prevalent in some areas, drivers need to slow down and take weather conditions into account when driving.
