Pennsylvania mother’s drunk driving endangers child’s life

Accidents involving drunk drivers often result in serious bodily injury or even death. Driving, in general, is a dangerous activity which requires extra-special attention and care. While on the roadways, it is not only imperative to pay attention to one’s own actions, but it is also extremely important to pay attention to what everyone else is doing on the road as well. Unfortunately, in cases where drunk drivers are involved, attentiveness does not always make a difference.

Recently, in Beaver Falls, a woman was arrested for drunk driving. The police investigation led to her being charged with drunk driving, endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment when she crashed her vehicle, flipped it and left her child hanging upside down in the overturned car. The accident happened in the parking lot of a Giant Eagle. According to authorities the woman’s blood alcohol level indicated that she was drunk. After the car crash, the woman exited the vehicle and witnesses had to rescue her child after they heard the child’s cries. Fortunately the child was not seriously injured.

Even though the accident spared the passenger in the car injury and no other serious injuries were reported, that is usually not the case in drunk driving accidents. Often times these types of accidents leave the people involved with major injuries and in even more severe cases people die. As such, courts hold drunk drivers liable for injuries that are sustained as a result of drunk driving accidents. The negligence of the drunk driver is what most drunk driving cases focus on.

Driving requires awareness and an attention to detail that is impaired when driving drunk. People who decide to get behind the wheel of a vehicle while intoxicated put everyone on the road at risk.
