Accident in Pennsylvania results in injuries

Operating a motor vehicle is a serious responsibility for those who undertake it. The act of driving is easy enough to learn but a moment’s inattention can still lead to a serious accident. Car crashes can be costly to everyone involved. Not only can an accident cause serious bodily injury and or even death, but the financial toll an accident takes can also be quite substantial.

An recent accident that occurred in Erie, Pennsylvania is being investigated by police. A minivan collided with a car at around 9 p.m. on a Sunday night, at the intersection of Wayne and 21st Streets.

The investigation suggests that one of the individuals involved in the accident ran through a stop sign thus causing the collision. No one was seriously injured in the collision but both drivers were taken to the hospital. There were also passengers in the vehicles but they were not injured.

Even in accidents where there is not serious bodily injury or death, an injured victim may still be entitled to monetary damages in a civil lawsuit. Often injuries that do not appear serious at first have long-term consequences. The courts can award compensatory damages depending on the facts and circumstances of the case. In a typical case the victim can recover damages for medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering.

Individuals who are involved in car accidents need to know their rights and responsibilities in the accident and in any legal action that follows. An experienced personal injury attorney can help a victim evaluate their options.
